Terminally ill children are wise beyond their years but can still be naive. As such, any adults that come within their orbit have an obligation to stand steadfast against those that would exploit them. Sick kids have fairly simple wants and needs. However, simple does not mean easy and this is where foundations like Make-A-Wish come in. A young heart patient in pallitave care wanted a chat with Jack Sparrow which Johnny Depp graciously fulfilled. More than once, actually. This young man, Kori, excitedly shared this video call on his YouTube channel, Krakken the Box. And heartstrings everywhere were pulled.
Kori had another wish: to gain 100,000 subscribers on his channel and, subsequently, to earn a silver play button. All sorts of content creators were eager to share this wish with others and, voila, Kori earned his heart's desire. But one creator pushed things 10 steps further, as is his customary behavior, becoming a self-appointed gate keeper to Kori and his family.
While Ian Runkle of Runkle of the Bailey on YT created a leather play button for Kori and Rob Moreton of Law & Lumber on YT is using his woodworking skills to do the same, Andy Signore of Popcorned Planet has fully exploited this child and his caregivers. With the current controversy surrounding Signore he should've stayed far away from this whole endeavor. That is not Andy's way, though.
PCP stans think Andy is doing this out of the goodness of his heart when it couldn't be further from the truth. If Andy truly cared, he would have simply encouraged his viewers to support the child, perhaps sharing links to his channel and Amazon wishlist. Instead, he convinced Kori's mom to allow him to make an appearance as the subscriber count on Kori's channel clicked over to 100K. And has taken ALL credit for this milestone.
Content creators like Ian, Rob & Emily D. Baker were very careful and deliberate as they supported Kori's endeavors realizing that every kudo should be given to Kori and his family. Understanding that his last days should be ones of joy and comfort, not exploitation. Any "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" should be directed at Andy & Popcorned Planet and NOT at the young man who simply wanted to meet Jack Sparrow and have fun on his own YT channel.
As such, I beg that you keep all controversy far away from Captain Kori. Neither he nor his family deserve that burden on top of the ones they already have. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
PS. Wondering if Andy has sent any gifts or donated any of his own money.
